An honors graduate of MIT, Dan chose professional ballroom
dancing over an architecture career. As a dancer, he has
amassed many titles, including North American Champion,
United States Champion, Eastern U.S. Champion, United
States Ten-Dance Champion, Southern States Champion and
New England Champion.
Dan was chosen on four separate occasions to represent the
United States in the World Professional Ballroom Dance
Championships, and has been invited to compete and perform
all over the world.
Dan first appeared on the television show “The United States
Ballroom Grand Championships.” Then, for 13 years he was
a featured Professional Ballroom Dancer on the acclaimed
program “Championship Ballroom Dancing.” More recently,
Dan appeared on “America’s Ballroom Challenge” 2009,
dancing an invitational showcase presentation where he was referred to as a “star of the ballroom world.”
He has also been in dozens of other television shows and commercials both here and abroad.
Dan was honored in a nationally televised tribute to his many years of competitive dancing. He is a
two-time recipient of the prestigious Feather Award for “Best Professional Ballroom Dancer in the
United States.” He choreographed and appeared as a featured dancer in the movie “Substitute 4” and
also danced for the national movie premier of “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights.” Dan and his professional
partner were the only ballroom couple to be featured in the best selling book “Dancing Through
the Ages.”
He is the author of “How a Dance Competition is Judged,” which has been translated into fifteen languages
and published worldwide as the concise authority on this subject.
Dan’s professional accreditations include membership in the National Dance Teachers of America and
the Professional Dancers Federation. He is a highly commended Licentiate of the Imperial Society of
Teachers of Dancing in both the Ballroom and Latin American Branches. He is a registered World Class
Adjudicator (a small group of officials selected to judge World Championship events) with the National
Dance Council of America, Inc.
Dan is the recipient of over one hundred Top Studio and Top Teacher Awards.
